Calling the Shots: Immunization Finance Policies and Practices

Immunization vaccines are administered through an increasingly complex system involving several federal agencies, as well as state and local governments and the private sector. A new report from a committee formed by the Institute of Medicine evaluates the adequacy and distribution of funding for both childhood and adult immunization programs. It also focuses on the status of national and state public health efforts, such as vaccine delivery, data collection, education, training, and program management.

This briefing was for members of Congress and congressional staff only. The report was publicly released on June 15, 2000 and is available online through the Web site of the National Academies Press.
