Making Money Matter: Financing America's Schools

Funding disparities persist among school districts in different states, and even those in the same state, despite various school-finance reforms in recent decades. This new report from a Committee of the National Research Council of the National Academies examines how the design of school-finance systems can foster high academic achievement for all students while making the most of tax dollars for education.

This briefing was for Members of Congress and Congressional Staff only. The report was publicly released on September 10, 1999 and can be found, in its entirety, on the Web site of the National Academies Press.
