This report, requested by Congress in P.L. 111-117, evaluates the modernization and associated restructuring of the National Weather Service that occurred from 1989 to 2000 and provides lessons learned to support future improvements.
These series of briefings were for members of Congress and congressional staff only. The report was publicly released on October 12, 2011 and can be found, in its entirety, on the Web site of the National Academies Press.
