Requested by Congress in P.L. 108-447, this new report from the Institute of Medicine proposes nutritional standards for a la carte cafeteria items, vending machine products, and other foods and beverages sold outside of federal school meal programs.
These series of briefings were for members of Congress and congressional staff only. The report was publicly released on April 25, 2007 and can be found, in its entirety, on the Web site of the National Academies Press.
