Progress Toward Restoring the Everglades: The Second Biennial Review, 2008
This new report from the National Academies, requested by Congress in P.L. 106-541, is the second in a series which reviews progress made by the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan -- a multibillion dollar federal-state effort to preserve the Florida Everglades by redirecting water to parts of the ecosystem that need it most. (The first biennial review was completed in September 2006.)
These series of briefings were for members of Congress and congressional staff only. The report was publicly released on September 29, 2008, and can be found, in its entirety, on the Web site of the National Academies Press.
