Public Financing and Delivery of HIV/AIDS Care: Securing the Legacy of Ryan White

In response to a request by Congress in PL 106-345, this new report from the Institute of Medicine provides an assessment for the Health Resources and Services Administration of the current public financing of HIV care with specific attention to the roles of Medicaid and the Ryan White Care Act. The report makes a number of recommendations to address coverage of low-income uninsured and underinsured individuals with HIV and to improve the delivery of health care and supportive services.

This briefing was for members of Congress and congressional staff only. The report was publicly released on May 13, 2004 and can be found, in its entirety, on the Web site of the National Academies Press.
