Review of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Restructured
Upper Mississippi River-Illinois Waterway Feasibility Study: Second Report
This new National Academies report examines the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' revised plan for improving barge transportation on the river. An earlier review of a draft plan found flaws in models used by the Corps to estimate future traffic levels on the waterway.
This briefing was for members of Congress and congressional staff only. The report was publicly released on October 6, 2004 and can be found, in its entirety, on the Web site of the National Academies Press.
