Sodium Intake in Populations:
Assessment of Evidence
This new report, from the Institute of Medicine (IOM), examines literature published since the IOM Dietary Reference Intakes report on electrolytes and reviews the consequences of dietary sodium reduction in the U.S. population and in particular subgroups such as African Americans and people over age 50.
These briefings were for members of Congress and congressional staff only. The report was publicly released on May 14, 2013 and can be found, in its entirety, on the Web site of the National Academies Press.
