This new National Research Council report, requested by Congress in P.L. 112-95, reviews various approaches to establishing staffing levels and recommends variables that should be incorporated in the development of a model to assist the Federal Aviation Administration in determining and allocating the right number of airway transportation system specialists to maintain the National Airspace System safely and efficiently.

This briefing was for members of Congress and congressional staff only. The report was publicly released on June 5, 2013 and can be found, in its entirety, on the Web site of the National Academies Press.
