Requested by Congress in P.L. 108-199, this new National Academies report examines the educational characteristics and coursework of programs to train K-12 teachers in the U.S., and assesses the degree to which the content and experiences in such programs are based on available scientific evidence.
These series of briefings were for members of Congress and congressional staff only. The report was publicly released on April 29, 2010 and can be found, in its entirety, on the Web site of the National Academies Press.
