On The Move
Another great way to work on good health is to walk as part of the National Academies’ On The Move Program. Four times a year our employees walk as a group.

We’ve walked to the National Mall, the World War II Memorial, the Cherry Blossom Festival and, most recently, the National Museum of the American Indian.

Retirees are encouraged to participate in this event and join in the fun while we take steps to improve our well being and health.

Wellness & Medicare
Medicare offers you several opportunities for preventive care:

  • bone mass measurement
  • colorectal cancer screening
  • flu shot
  • glaucoma screening
  • mammogram screening
  • medical nutrition therapy
  • pap test/pelvic exam
  • prostrate screening
  • some shots/vaccinations

Medicare covers 80% for most services after annual Medicare Part B deductible. Some services are not subject to the deductible. Some services have no cost.
