2007 Retiree
Health Insurance Options
If You Are Transitioning To Retirement Using COBRA

As an official retiree who has not attained age 60 and not eligible for Medicare, you have a choice of health insurance coverage using COBRA for up to 18 months. If you are eligible for a portion of the insurance premium to be paid by the National Academies, this cost sharing arrangement is not available until you attain age 60. Any eligible family member must elect the same health care option.

When you attain age 60 you will officially transition on the first day of the next month from COBRA health insurance to retiree health insurance.
