Counter-terrorism
The STEP Board is in the process of developing a new study on Facilitating New Technologies to Counter Terrorism. The proposed study would look at whether the modification of certain policies (intellectual property protection, safety and health regulations, technical standards, procurement, and government-industry partnering arrangements, among others) may facilitate or inhibit private sector development of technologies and products for national security and commercial markets. This activity is subject to the approval of the National Research Council's Governing Board, but in the interim comments and suggestions are welcome.
