Mahendra Shunmoogam

Mr. Shunmoogam received a Bachelor of Social Science in political science and governance from the University of Cape Town (UCT), South Africa. He pursued legal studies at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) and worked as assistant director of communication for Premier Ebrahim Rasool in the Western Cape Provincial Government, in documentary filmmaking, and for the South African Treatment Action Campaign before coming to the United States. He joined the staff of the National Academies’ Board on Science, Technology, and Economic Policy in June 2006.
