Workshop on Enhancing Professional Development for Teachers: Potential Uses of Information Technology
This workshop focused broadly on ways in which emerging on-line information technologies (OLIT) might be used to enhance professional development for teachers in Grades K-12. Issues that were examined during the workshop included the current status of the research literature on uses and influences of OLIT on professional development, current applications of various kinds of information technology in professional development, the potential for emerging technologies to restructure professional development opportunities, and the challenges that remain in using information technologies for these purposes. The workshop was developed in collaboration with the California Teacher Advisory Council.
