About the Committee The U.S. Advisory Committee for the International Commission for Optics (USAC/ICO) promotes international cooperation in optics by participating in ICO congresses and by actively involving the U.S. optics community and the professional societies. ICO is recognized for outreach programs in support of optics in developing countries, international exchange of scientific information and standards, and sponsorship of international conferences. USAC/ICO serves as a catalyst for U.S. involvement in ICO and links U.S. researchers in all subfields of optics to international activities. The Optical Society of America (OSA), the International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE), and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers/Lasers and Electro-Optical Society (IEEE/LEOS) are all actively involved in the USAC/ICO. The value of USAC/ICO activities to the optics community and its societies is reflected in the commitments and investments made by these societies. The USAC/ICO members explore international concerns and promote international initiatives.
