2002 CODATA Conference and General Assembly

The USNC/CODATA and staff are planning for the 2002 CODATA Conference and General Assembly—“Frontiers of Scientific and Technical Data,” which will be held in Montreal, Canada, on September 29-October 3, 2002. The USNC/CODATA chair, Harlan Onsrud, serves as co-chair of the 2002 Conference and as deputy chair of the Scientific Program Committee. The USNC/CODATA director, Paul Uhlir, is also a member of the Scientific Program Committee.

The Conference program includes several cross-cutting themes that facilitate access to and use of scientific data, including preservation and archiving of S&T data, interoperability and data integration, emerging tools and techniques for data handling, legal issues in using and sharing S&T data, information economics for S&T data, and ethics in the creation and use of scientific and technical data. Most of the USNC/CODATA members, ex officios, and agency liaisons are organizing sessions and will give presentations at the conference.
