The U.S. National Committee to the International Union of Physiological Sciences (IUPS) is a committee of scientists appointed by the National Research Council of the National Academies. This committee represents the United States as a member of the physiological sciences union.
The committee supports the growth of the physiological sciences through:
- promoting research in the physiological sciences in the United States
- nominating persons to represent the physiological community of the United States at general assemblies of the IUPS
- encouraging cooperative enterprises that promote the advancement of physiological knowledge
- conducting travel grant programs to assist U.S. scientists in attending the triennial IUPS congresses
In carrying out these roles, the committee interacts closely with the American scientific societies whose members are involved in the physiological sciences, particularly

- The Biomedical Engineering Society
- The Society for Neuroscience
- The Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology
The National Academy of Sciences is the United States’ adhering body to the IUPS. The U.S. National Committee operates within the National Research Council's Board on International Scientific Organizations in the Policy and Global Affairs Division.
