Activities and Meetings
Every four years the PSA holds a Pacific Science Congress. Themes for congresses tend to be broadly based, touching on all regions of the Pacific and many facets of science and technology. For a complete list of PSA congresses and intercongresses, see http://www.pacificscience.org/congresses.html.
Recent and Upcoming Pacific Science Congresses:
- 21st Pacific Science Congress, hosted by University of Ryukyus, Okinawa, Japan, 2007.
- 20th Pacific Science Congress, Science and Technology for Healthy Environments, hosted by National Research Council of Thailand, Bangkok, Thailand, March 17-21, 2003.
Pacific Science Inter-Congresses are held between congresses, generally one in the middle year between congresses, but there have been exceptions. Compared to the Congresses, Inter-Congresses tend to have a more narrow theme and may be sub-regional in focus.
Recent Pacific Science Inter-Congresses:
- 11th Pacific Science Inter-Congress, Pacific Countries and their Ocean: Facing Local and Global Changes, Tahiti, March 2009
- 10th Pacific Science Inter-Congress, The Integration of Natural and Social Sciences in the New Pacific Millennium, hosted by the University of Guam, June 1-6, 2001.
Members of the U.S. National Committee organized symposia for the 2001 Inter-congress in Guam and the 2003 and 2007 congresses in Bangkok and Okinawa.
