IUTAM Symposia and Instructional Summer Schools

The aim of any symposium sponsored by IUTAM is to assemble a group of active scientists within a well-defined field for the development of science within that field. The purpose of an IUTAM Instructional Summer School is to provide lectures by leading experts in a new or emerging field of science and engineering in order to foster developments in that field.

A list of all recent and upcoming IUTAM Symposia and Summer Schools can be found at the IUTAM website. They also have a complete listing of all past symposia, including information on proceedings where available.

How to Host a Symposium or School

Proposals from the United States should be submitted through the U.S. National Committee, which competitively screens and forwards them with recommendations for consideration by the IUTAM General Assembly, which meets every two years. The 2008 General Assembly will make decisions on recently submitted proposals. The USNC/TAM will put out a call for proposals for the next biennium in 2009.
